If you want to catch a real fireworks show, Neskowin is hosting its own display at 10pm on the 4th of July in front of Proposal Rock. The show will be approximately 25 minutes long.

Tips for Pet Owners

Worried about your dog? Here are some tips to help prepare them for 4th of July celebrations:

  • Create a Safe Space: Set up a quiet, comfortable area in your home where your pet can retreat during the fireworks.
  • Use Calming Aids: Consider using anxiety wraps, pheromone diffusers, or calming treats to help soothe your pet.
  • Distract with Background Noise: Play calming music or have the TV on to help drown out the noise of the fireworks.
  • Stay Indoors: Keep your pet inside with windows and doors closed to minimize the sound.

For more insight and information, this is a great resource from Outside Online about caring for pets around the 4th of July.

Fireworks Safety

Be safe! Fireworks are fun, but also dangerous. These fireworks safety tips from the National Safety Council are important to know. It could save you a trip to the emergency room this weekend.

  • Keep a Safe Distance: Always maintain a safe distance from fireworks to avoid injury.
  • Supervise Children: Never let children handle fireworks without adult supervision.
  • Keep Water Handy: Have a bucket of water or a hose nearby in case of fire or mishap.
  • Dispose of Fireworks Properly: Ensure used fireworks are soaked in water before disposing of them to prevent fires.

If you need medical attention for any reason this weekend, the closest emergency rooms are in Lincoln City (22 miles south on 101) and Tillamook (25 miles north on 101).

Legal Fireworks

Are your fireworks legal? This page from Tillamook Fire District will make sure you’re in compliance with local laws. It’s important to know which fireworks are allowed to avoid fines or legal trouble.

Environmental Responsibility

And last but not least, pick up your trash! Whether you’re having your own fireworks show or watching a display, don’t leave your garbage behind. Do your part to take care of our coast.

  • Bring a Trash Bag: Carry a bag with you to collect your waste.
  • Leave No Trace: Ensure that you leave the area cleaner than you found it.

On Friday, 7/5, the Dorymen’s Association is hosting a beach cleanup starting at 8am. Registration is encouraged. Register here. Cleanup starts at 8am!
